TLC Family comes from Time-Line Continuum, which has spent years putting stories in order. A family is the same idea with people instead of events.
Time-Line Continuum builds timelines: carefully ordered accounts of how events, ideas and lives actually unfolded. The insight behind all of them is a simple one. Put things in the right sequence and the story starts to make sense on its own.
A family works the same way. Once the people are in order you can see which generation lived through what, how a name travels down a family, and where one line ends and another begins. That is what this product is for.
It began as a private viewer built for one family of several hundred people, and the things that family needed are the things it is still good at: a lot of people held together, generations that are easy to follow, and text large enough to read comfortably. The reader we design for is in his eighties, which is why the type is bigger and the contrast stronger than is fashionable.
Your tree is yours. It is private, it is not published anywhere, and it is kept out of search engines.
